During the Hanseatic era, the Ewer and the Schute were indispensable workhorses for the fine-grained logistical network of coastal and inland waterways. They served as the vital link between the large, ocean-going Koggen and the hinterland. The Ewer transported goods such as salt or hides further inland, while the Schute was frequently utilized for supply chains between the mainland and offshore islands.

In Kontor Air’s modern fleet strategy, the KAX—operating within the „Ewer“ and „Schute“ classes—takes on the vital role of capillary distribution throughout the northern regions surrounding the Finnish and Swedish Gulf of Bothnia.
The Short-Haul Enabler: The KAX is deployed as the „Hanse Flex-Shuttle“ or „Air-Taxi.“ It services exceptionally short routes over land and water lasting just 20 to 30 minutes, which would otherwise require several hours by car, rail, or ferry.
The KAX Feeder (Jakelu): Deployed via the modern Cessna 408 SkyCourier platform, this highly efficient aircraft replaces older concepts to form the operational core of our sub-regional hub-and-spoke network over the Gulf of Bothnia.
In the standard Ewer configuration, the cabin can dynamically accommodate three KAFTBs (Kontor Air Freight Trolley Boxes) depending on real-time cargo demand. Dedicated baggage compartments are located in both the aft section and the nose of the aircraft.
