How does a retiree get the idea to found an airline?
I, Florian Schmidt, was born in 1960 and live today in Loimaa, Finland. My aviation career began at the age of 14 with gliding in Eschwege. A decisive turning point for me was 1984, when I became European Champion together with Werner Hoffmann on an SF 36 in Räyskälä. My fascination for Finnish culture and aviation eventually led me to move the center of my life permanently to Finland in 1987. Professionally, I worked in Germany for Glaser-Dirks and Valentin Flugzeugbau, among others. In Finland, I was the managing director of a leather factory and most recently worked in final assembly and commissioning at Dinolift Oy. For over 25 years, I have pursued the vision of founding a regional airline based on Dornier 328 models. For personal reasons, the project was forgotten for a time. However, with the start of further development D328eco by Deutsche Aircraft GmbH, combined with today's fundamentally changed conditions in Northern European air traffic, this fire has been rekindled. I have decided to fulfill the realization of this project for my seventieth birthday. Since autumn 2025, I have intensively analyzed why previous operators of the D328 often failed in scheduled service. My impression is that they often tried to compete against significantly larger aircraft on main routes. My approach for "Kontor Air" is different: in over forty years, I have come to know the Scandinavian domestic market and today I see a massive gap in regional connectivity that is increasingly neglected by the major hubs, making realization feasible. I am firmly convinced that the D328eco and a future Cessna 408 SkyCourier are the ideal "dream team" for my concept of a hybrid logistics and passenger network. I have examined alternative models, but clearly see the technological future for my specific requirements in the Cessna 408 SkyCourier and D328eco.

The Dual-Control Management System
KONTOR AIR is structured to guarantee absolute operational transparency, rigorous capital protection, and strict separation of strategic vision from daily asset management. To ensure that every euro of investment capital is utilized exclusively for the regional industrial rollout, the cooperative operates under a strict institutional governance matrix:
Strategic Control (The Founder’s Role): Upon successful financing and the appointment of the external Finnish Managing Director (Accountable Manager), the founder, Florian Schmidt, will transition to the position of Chairman of the Board. From this position, he will maintain long-term strategic oversight, ensuring uncompromised execution of the core vision, the "Bed Promise," and the multi-role layout compliance, without interfering in daily cooperative operations.
Rigorous Capital Control (The Multi-Signature Shield): Financial resources and incoming investment tranches are strictly managed under a transparent escrow and multi-signature control mechanism. Access to capital is bound to verified, contractually agreed operational milestones (e.g., ELY-approvals, Traficom filings, PZL assembly stages). No single individual has autonomous access to the cooperative treasury.
The Institutional Advisory Board Interlock: Financial and strategic decisions of systemic relevance require the additional counter-signature and audit clearance of the Institutional Advisory Board, creating a military-grade compliance environment for public and private funds.
